Teaching and learning activities

ICT can be particularly useful when teaching a language in a non-Roman script. As well as enabling constant and high-quality visual exposure to the written language, meaning can be easily reinforced with image and sound. Pupils in the early stages of writing can be enabled to produce written work at sentence and text level before being able to write independently and efficiently on paper.

As well as a rationale explaining the potential impact of ICT on learning, the downloadable file on teaching and learning suggests a number of simple activities for developing reading and writing skills in non-Roman script languages, with a particular focus on word-processing.
