Partners in progress

The power of the Internet and email has allowed language teachers to share their ideas and digital resources much more easily with each other than was possible in the past. Teachers who are keen to undertake action research in the field of ICT in language teaching will find extensive ideas for getting involved further on the Partners in progress pages on the Languages ICT website. Suggestions include:

  • Submit or recommend a case study on the web.
  • Offer to write an article for the bi-annual Language Learning Journal from the Association for Language Learning.
  • Suggest running a session for ALL at one of their Language Days or Local Branch events.
  • Check out one of the specialist CILT Bulletins from the CILT website and offer to write an article for a future publication.
  • Look for what action research is already being carried out around the country and tell us about it.
  • Join the Languages-ICT email forum and discuss issues which interest you with like-minded colleagues.
  • Contact ALL about the forthcoming sessions at their annual Language World conference.
  • Share some of your digital resources with other teachers by uploading them to the Teacher Resource Exchange.
  • Email ALL and ask if you can join their ICT Special Interest Group.
  • Read about what is happening in Specialist Language Colleges by visiting the Innovative practice area of Partners in progress or the Language Colleges area of the CILT website.
  • Put forward articles on a useful website or page for inclusion in the Webwatch Languages service maintained by the ICT SIG at ALL.

There are also suggestions on the Partners in progress site for seeking opportunities on how to fund your ideas by taking part in a variety of different awards, schemes and partnerships with external bodies and organisations. In the Research papers section, you can find out about the latest documents on ICT in language teaching and learning and what evidence is given for the impact on its use. If that isn’t enough, there is also a section on Innovative practice where there are links to case studies from around the UK, put together by real classroom teachers who want to share their evidence on how ICT affects language learning in their own schools.
