Interactive whiteboard funding
The interactive whiteboard revolution is well under way and the Government has committed £25 million pounds of funding for whiteboards during 2004-2005. The amount is split between primary (£15 million) and secondary (£10 million) and allocated to over 100 different LEAs. To find out if your LEA is included, visit the relevant area of the DfES ICT in Schools web pages.
Funding is tied in with training and LEAs must ensure that teachers receive appropriate training in order to receive their funding. There are several organisations and projects providing training:
- The Hands On Support project
- City Learning Centres
- The Specialist Schools Trust offer a variety of school-based and local
CPD courses.
In addition, thanks to the National Primary Interactive Network, launched in May 2004, LEAs can also get access to four days training per term and various support materials to cascade to schools. Key Stage 3 consultants may also be involved.
