Creating the photo story
Digital cameras were borrowed from another department and the pupils took photos of the school: these were uploaded to the school network by the Language College Technician, Chris Madden. Pupils selected photos from the pool on the network and then created and recorded a script. They mixed their photos and voice recording with music which is incorporated into the Photostory3 software and finalised their photo stories as movie files. The preparation and recording of the script was particularly valuable as pupils had to manipulate language to match their photos and were not free to simply copy and paste phrases. They had to employ writing and speaking skills and push themselves to their maximum level. They met specific National Curriculum levels and the teacher gained a clear impression of individual progress.
