Expressing opinions

PowerPoint presentations were used to present and practise expressions of opinion. In order to extend choices available to pupils when writing their photo story scripts a full range of expressions were taught. As an aid to memory, gestures, such as thumbs-up, were used by teacher and pupils to denote meaning. Next, pupils took part in drag-and-drop activities on the interactive whiteboard. Course book activities were used to complement ICT-based activities and extend the linguistic range of pupils to include connectives such as “porque” (“because”) and adjectives. The names of places in school were introduced and practised with PowerPoint before the elements taught so far were linked on the interactive whiteboard to construct meaningful sentences talking about school subjects, likes and dislikes and school facilities.
